POLICE ARREST TWO LOUISIANA MEN IN 39-YEAR-OLD COLD CASE MURDER OF TEEN 
Leo Laird, 64, and Gary Haymon, 54, were both charged on Monday in the death of 18-year-old Donna Gayle Brazzell, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities declined to elaborate on what evidence led to Laird and Haymon’s arrest, but said “sufficient probable cause was established.” Both men have been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree rape, and aggravated kidnapping.

23 TEXAS CITIES WERE TARGETED IN A ‘COORDINATED RANSOMWARE ATTACK’
Cybersecurity experts have been deployed by the state to assess the damage from a “coordinated ransomware attack” that struck 23 Texas cities on Friday, state officials said. Investigators hadn’t determined the origin of the attacks as of Friday evening and were still working to bring cities’ systems back online, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Information Resources. The department believes, however, that the attacks came from a “single threat actor.”

JAY INSLEE IS ENDING HIS CLIMATE CHANGE-DRIVEN CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT
While Inslee wasn’t entirely a single-issue candidate, he kept his campaign tightly focused on climate change. He released half a dozen policy plans to address climate change during his run, on everything from a massive spending and investment plan to banning fracking and killing US coal. He released his latest plan, tackling climate change in the agricultural sector, this week. Inslee raised the issues repeatedly in the two primary debates he was part of, and has pressed the Democratic National Committee to hold a separate candidate debate just on the climate issues.

SUSPECT IN UTAH STUDENT MACKENZIE LUECK’S DEATH IS CHARGED IN A SECOND CASE
Ayoola A. Ajayi, 31, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman he met on a dating app in March 2018 at his home. Prosecutors say they learned about the crime as a part of an ongoing investigation of Ajayi. Ajayi was charged with the murder and kidnapping of Lueck, 23, this summer after authorities discovered her body in Logan Canyon outside Salt Lake City.

NEW YORK MAN, ACCUSED OF RAPING WOMAN, 74, REMOVED FROM COURT AFTER FLIPPING TABLE
Shamik King, 30, was removed from the Syracuse courtroom at around 11:30 a.m. after he hurled a wooden table at the prosecution team’s table, sending splinters flying, according to The Post-Standard. King, who’s accused of raping an elderly woman on Aug. 19, 2018 at the Skyline Apartments, is charged with rape, burglary and assault and was in court as part of jury selection in the case.
