WOMEN STILL TRAIL MEN IN AUTO RANKS DESPITE GM CEO MARY BARRA’S GAINS
The auto industry, as a whole, remains a boys’ club in the upper echelons despite Barra’s success at GM, where she’s widely credited with boosting profits and beating many rivals on self-driving car technology. Of the 11 major automakers that provided data to USA TODAY, none had women in more than 23% of their U.S. vice president-or-higher positions as of the end of the second quarter. Two – Hyundai and Kia, which are part of the same parent company – had zero. With the exception of GM, where six of 11 global board members are women, none had women in more than 35% of their board director positions. At a majority of the 11 automakers surveyed by USA TODAY – Fiat Chrysler, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai-Kia, Jaguar Land Rover and Toyota – more than 4 in 5 board members were men.

VAPING-RELATED LUNG TRANSPLANT PERFORMED AT DETROIT HOSPITAL
Doctors at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit have performed a double lung transplant on a man whose lungs were damaged from vaping. No other details of the transplant were released Monday, but a news conference has been scheduled for Tuesday. The patient has asked his medical team to share photographs and an update to warn others about vaping. More than 2,000 Americans who vape have gotten sick since March, many of them teenagers and young adults, and at least 40 people have died. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week announced a breakthrough into the cause of a vaping illness outbreak, identifying a chemical compound as a “very strong culprit.” Vitamin E acetate previously was found in liquid from electronic cigarettes and other vaping devices used by many who got sick and only recently has been used as a vaping fluid thickener.

ENTIRE CAST OF ‘DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ FIRED, SHOW TO GO ON INDEFINITE HIATUS
The cast of the long-running daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives” have been released from their contract, with the program set to go on indefinite hiatus at the end of November. TVLine reported the news on Tuesday, adding that NBC has not canceled the show outright. It was reported that, since the show shoots months in advance, there are enough episode already completed to air through Summer 2020. If NBC does renew “Days”, production could resume in March. But, by releasing the entire cast from their contracts, there is no guarantee of who would return. If the show is renewed for its 56th season, all the actors would have to renegotiate new contracts. “Days of Our Lives” began airing on November 8th, 1965.

WALKING DEAD’S CHRISTIAN SERRATOS CAST AS SELENA QUINTANILLA IN NETFLIX’S SELENA: THE SERIES
Netflix has found its Selena Quintanilla. Christian Serratos, who is best known for her role as Rosita in The Walking Dead, has been cast as the the late Tejano singer in Netflix’s upcoming drama Selena: The Series. The series, which was announced by Netflix last December, will be broken up in two parts. Part one will air in 2020 and feature six one hour-long episodes. A minute-long teaser depicted Serratos, 29, reading through her script as she got in character as Quintanilla. She further emulated the singer by wearing her iconic purple jumpsuit and showed off her vocals on stage to one of the Tejano singer’s hit songs. It is currently unknown if Serratos will continue her role on The Walking Dead, which she has starred in since 2014. Her character is currently among those very ill as a result of The Whisperers tainting Alexandria’s water supply with zombie entrails.

‘FRIENDS’ REUNION SPECIAL IN THE WORKS AT HBO MAX
Talks are currently underway for an unscripted reunion special that would feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, as well as series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman. Sources caution that a deal is far from done and agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out. When and if deals are completed, the challenge then becomes sorting out everyone’s schedules. Of course, the talks could fizzle and the whole concept could fall apart. News of a reunion special arrives as Friends has found new audiences at its streaming home on Netflix. The series is officially leaving the streamer at year’s end and will make its debut on WarnerMedia-backed HBO Max when that $15 monthly subscription platform launches at a date to be determined. Sources say WarnerMedia paid $85 million per year for five years ($425 million) to reclaim streaming rights to Friends for its own platform. (Netflix, for its part, paid $80 million to $100 million to keep Friends on its service for 2019 and was ultimately outbid by WarnerMedia.)

‘HISTORIC MOMENT’: YOUNG DACA RECIPIENTS TO RALLY AS SUPREME COURT HEARS ARGUMENTS
DACA was established in 2012 by former President Barack Obama and allowed teens older than 16 and adults younger than 30 who were brought to the United States when they were children to work and study without fear of deportation. Gonzalez Porras is one of more than 800,000 young immigrants who have enrolled. Tuesday, a large crowd of demonstrators who came from different states including New York, Florida and California braved the cold and rainy weather on the steps of the Supreme Court, chanting at times in English and Spanish, “Sí, se puede” and “Yes, we can.” Unofficial estimates put the crowd at several thousand; at one point police closed off the street in front of the Supreme Court to manage the crowd that had assembled. The Supreme Court heard arguments Tuesday on a Trump administration challenge to lower court rulings that blocked the administration from ending the program, which President Donald Trump announced he would do in 2017. Administration officials argue the program interferes with its immigration enforcement efforts and sanctions the violation of federal law, but they have been challenged in court by civil rights, legal and immigration groups.

“PLEASE RESPECT MY SPACE”: SUMMER WALKER WILL NOT BE HUGGING FANS BECAUSE OF THE “TRANSFERENCE OF ENERGY” AND WE ACTUALLY GET IT
The 23-year-old was recently criticized by a supporter who accused her of coming off as cold when they met, allegedly not offering autographs, not talking much and not allowing fans to get too close to her for pictures. This fan, who got to do a meet and greet with the singer, took to Instagram recently to share her disappointment with how it turned out. “Such an anticlimactic and disappointing experience meeting Summer Walker yesterday,” they wrote. “Not only did she move the meet and greet last minute to after the show, the meet and greet itself was literally 5 seconds. We were informed to have our phones out, ready with flash, and not to sit too close or touch her. She barely spoke to anyone, every couple of people she’d say ‘Hi.’ It was a big hurt piece for me because I really idolised [sic] her and her work. I knew she was an introvert and kind of closed off but there was no effort in this at all, whatsoever.” The young lady would go on to say in her rant that she was hoping for sincerity from Walker, and that the star had “lost a big fan.” The message got a lot of attention, and actually caught the eye of the “Playing Games” singer. She took to Instagram on Sunday and shared that she doesn’t seek to offend her fans, but touchy-feely moments people are hoping for she is not going to be able to give them. Walker said she is not going to hug people at meet and greets because of her weariness to transfer energy with them. Her response was posted with no comments allowed.
