1954: The Miss America pageant made its network TV debut on ABC.

1962: The Beatles recorded their first singles, Love Me Do and P.S. I Love You, at EMI studios in London.

2001: Coordinated attacks resulted in the collapse of the World Trade Center in New York City, destruction of the western portion of The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a passenger airliner crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In total, 2,974 people were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
