In February 2025, Trump appointed himself chairman of the institution, dismissed existing board members, and installed allies, including Usha Vance. These moves aimed to eliminate what the administration termed “woke” programming, leading to the cancellation of several shows and the withdrawal of artists like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Shonda Rhimes.
  • CYBERSECURITY OFFICIALS WARN OF COSTLY MEDUSA RANSOMWARE ATTACKS: Cybersecurity officials from the FBI and CISA have issued warnings about Medusa, a ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) operation active since 2021. • MLB FACES CRITICISM OVER ‘EMBARRASSING’ CROWD AT SAVANNAH BANANAS GAME: The Savannah Bananas, known for their unique blend of baseball and entertainment, recently attracted a crowd of 65,000 fans at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. This impressive turnout has sparked discussions about Major League Baseball (MLB) teams’ struggles with attendance, particularly the Tampa Bay Rays.
  • UNITED AIRLINES PASSENGER BANNED AFTER KNOCKING OUT GATE AGENT AT D.C. AIRPORT: A violent incident occurred at Washington Dulles International Airport involving a United Airlines passenger, Christopher Stuart Crittenden, aged 54, from Frederick, Maryland. Frustrated by a flight cancellation and subsequent booking issues, Crittenden attempted to access a restricted area at Gate D12. • 17-YEAR PERIODICAL CICADA EMERGENCE AHEAD THIS SPRING: These cicadas have spent the past 17 years underground and will surface when soil temperatures consistently reach approximately 64°F, typically from late April to mid-May. Once above ground, they will engage in a brief, intense period of mating, characterized by males producing loud, buzzing calls to attract females. This activity can last up to six weeks, after which the adult cicadas will die, and their offspring will return underground, continuing the 17-year cycle.
