Today’s Rundown:

  • DEMOCRATS NOTCH KEY WINS IN NYC, NEW JERSEY, VIRGINIA, CALIFORNIA: Democrats posted a strong election night, flipping or holding marquee races across multiple blue-leaning states and cities. Analysts said abortion rights, shutdown fatigue, and local turnout operations helped the party outperform expectations. Several GOP candidates underperformed in suburbs that swung hard during the Trump era. The results provide a morale boost for Democrats heading into 2026. Early tallies from major outlets show decisive margins in New Jersey and Virginia statewide contests.
  • UPS CARGO JET CRASHES AFTER TAKEOFF FROM LOUISVILLE; SHELTER-IN-PLACE ISSUED: A UPS aircraft crashed shortly after departing Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, killing at least seven people, officials said. Authorities ordered nearby residents to shelter in place as firefighters battled a large blaze and hazmat teams assessed the scene. The NTSB said a go-team will conduct a full investigation, including a review of maintenance records and air traffic data. UPS expressed condolences and said it is cooperating with investigators. Flight operations in and out of Louisville experienced delays.
  • JUDGE DISMISSES JUSTIN BALDONI’S DEFAMATION COUNTERSUIT AGAINST BLAKE LIVELY: A federal judge finalized the dismissal of Justin Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Blake Lively (and others), after Baldoni and his company missed a deadline to amend their complaint. The ruling leaves Lively’s request for attorneys’ fees in play. The underlying case—Lively’s allegations tied to the production of It Ends With Us—continues toward a 2026 trial date. Baldoni’s team has disputed the characterization of events, but the court said his claims didn’t meet defamation standards.
  • NORWAY’S $2T WEALTH FUND REJECTS ELON MUSK’S RECORD TESLA PAY PACKAGE: Norges Bank Investment Management, the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, said it will vote against Tesla’s proposed ~$1 trillion compensation plan for CEO Elon Musk. The fund cited concerns over size and structure, echoing its 2018 “no” vote on Musk’s earlier package. The shareholder showdown arrives as some investors back the deal while others remain undecided. Tesla’s board has warned Musk could leave if the package fails. The vote is slated for this week.
  • TRUMP SAYS HE’D HELP ‘DILBERT’ CREATOR SCOTT ADAMS ACCESS CANCER TREATMENT: President Trump said he would assist cartoonist Scott Adams, who has discussed facing cancer, in getting treatment access. The outreach followed social-media attention around Adams’ health updates. The White House did not detail what assistance might entail. The remark drew both support from fans and criticism from opponents who questioned presidential involvement in individual cases.
  • ‘SESAME STREET’ UNVEILS A FRESH LOOK AS IT MOVES TO NETFLIX: The beloved series’ reimagined 56th season debuts on Netflix with a new structure: each episode centers on an 11-minute story, plus revamped segments and interactive elements. Classic bits like “Elmo’s World” return alongside new features such as Cookie Monster’s “Cookie Cart.” The season will stream in 30+ languages, expanding the show’s global reach. The premiere is set for Nov. 10.
  • PIZZA HUT PARENT YUM BRANDS SAYS IT MAY SELL THE ICONIC CHAIN: Yum Brands announced a strategic review of Pizza Hut that could lead to a sale, citing weak U.S. performance and shifting consumer habits toward pickup and delivery. While Pizza Hut retains a massive international footprint, domestic sales have lagged rivals. Executives said the brand may perform better outside Yum’s portfolio. No timeline for a decision was given.
  • DUANE ROBERTS, CREATOR OF THE FROZEN BURRITO, DIES AT 88: Duane Roberts—who helped popularize the frozen burrito and later owned the Mission Inn in Riverside, Calif.—has died at 88, his family said. Roberts built a food empire in the 1960s by mass-producing frozen Mexican food for supermarkets and stadiums. He later became a philanthropist and civic booster in Southern California. Tributes highlighted his business impact and community giving.
